Belly Dancing
The beginnings of belly dancing are unclear, but most believe it began in the Middle East, around 6000 years ago. The dance is said to be used to help women in childbirth, for religious purposes, for regional entertainment, or for some other reason, but it is believed to originally have been a dance performed by women for women. Today, Egypt, Turkey, North Africa, Greece, Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq have their own distinctive forms of belly dancing.
Dana teaches a fusion of Egyptian and modern belly dance, pairing contemporary music to traditional movement, emphasizing body control and isolations. Belly dancing is a fun and natural way to get in shape for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes.
Wear something comfortable and not too loose--exercise clothes are perfect. Most people dance in socks.
